Aroma Therapy: Get Cured With A Whiff

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Tom_Cary] Tom Cary The origin of aromatherapy can be traced back to ancient Egypt. It was used in both ritualistic and medicinal practices. Even the Chinese medicinal practices are rich in cures with essential oils in acupuncture, massage, inhalations and baths. The ancient Indian medicinal system also deals a lot with the medicinal oils. Many aroma cures are practiced in homes and has become a part of common home remedies. Knowledge of aroma therapy and its scientific basis started after a French Chemist Gattefosse showed that essential oils can penetrate the skin and mingle with the extra-cellular liquids of the body which are then carried to the different organs. Other research has shown that the olfactory nerves that react to smell is directly connected to the hypothalamus. Hypothalamus controls the endocrine system which regulates growth, and other activities such as heart rate, breathing, digestion, body temperature and hunger. Basics of aromatherapy Aroma of oils is extracted from various herbs and plants which help to bring the mind and body into a state of equilibrium. It helps in healing various metal and physical ailments. This oil from which the aroma is taken is known as essential oils which can be used to treat many ailments like depression, stress, arthritis, back problems, muscle aches, head aches, colds, sinus problems, skin disorders, asthma, digestion problems, etc. The essentials oils are many and information on the essential oils and aromatherapy info can be obtained from the internet. These essential oils evaporate easily and are used in many air fresheners. A vapouriser, potpourri burner, heating the oil on the stove or placing a few drops in steaming water can create a distinct mental and emotion atmosphere. Pure essential oils are extremely concentrated and are volatile. Most of these oils contain vitamins and minerals, some are natural antiseptics where as others exhibit hormone like properties. How to use these Essential Oils Make your own perfume by adding these oils to other oils so that it does not evaporate fast. You could also add it to pure alcohol (ethyl) and use it like a perfume. Water is used in therapy quite often and using oils in bath tub while having a bath enhances the power of the oil. Do not add any other substance (foam, soap or other oils) to the water. Just add about 9 or 10 drops of essential oils and relax. The oil is absorbed into the skin and inhalation of the vapor is added benefit. For children and babies be sure to reduce the quantity of oil. You could also take a cotton and dab it with a little bit of oil and keep it in the room you are working in. Putting a drop or two of oil in the dust bin and in other vantage points in the room will permeate the entire room with the pleasant aroma. In case you are to use it for colds and inflammation of the sinus. Steamers that are made specially for aromatherapy can help. These steamers are used even for other ailments. Application of the oil on the affected part is said to be beneficial in many remedies like arthritis, muscle aches etc. Herbs for Aroma therapy [http://www.aromacures.com/aromacures-articles/aromatherapy-stress-relief.htm] Aromatherapy stress reduction oils and some essentials herbs of aromatherapy for ailments are given below. What Difference Does It Make?

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

By David M. Havard Although no one may actually come right out and say it, when it comes to the distinctive ministry and message of the Apostle Paul, many believers apparently think, “What difference does it make?” While such a question is understandable when it comes from someone unfamiliar with Pauline dispensationalism, the question is quite disturbing when it comes from those within the “Grace Movement.” While those of us who stand for the Grace message may chafe at such a question, it is still vitally important that we know the answer to such a question. What difference DOES it make? The answer to the question, “What difference does it make?” will depend largely on whether or not we place a high premium on God’s Word. If we take God’s Word and living a God-honoring Christian live seriously, the Grace message makes a tremendous difference. But if we are noncommittal to God, apathetic to His Word, and don’t care to live a Christ-honoring life, then it will not make much of a difference at all. But let us say that you take the Bible and your walk before Him seriously. If you do, then the knowledge of God’s Word rightly divided will affect all areas of your life. However, for the sake of discussion, we will focus on just three areas: Bible Interpretation, Evangelism, and our Christian Walk. Bible Interpretation Understanding the distinctive ministry of the Apostle Paul is absolutely necessary if we are going to be able to consistently interpret the Word of God. Many times critics of the Bible say that they cannot believe it to be true because it is full of contradictions. Of course, we do not believe that it is “full of contradictions,” but it is true that without a full understanding of God’s different dispensations the Bible does appear to contradict itself. Proper Method The only method of biblical interpretation that allows the Bible to mean what it says and say what it meansto whom it was writtenis the literal method of interpretation. By literal interpretation we mean letting the Bible speak with the normal meaning of words. While the Bible is a supernatural book, we read it as we would any other book, letting the normal rules of grammar and word meanings speak to us. Even those who do not accept dispensationalism admit that if you stick to a literal method of interpretation you will have to be a dispensationalist. If you do not believe in dispensationalism then you are forced to explain away the contradictions in the Scriptures which are not contradictions when properly understood in their dispensational context. Many dispensationalists understand the difference between Israel and the Body of Christ. Many dispensational Bible teachers of the past and present (such as Scofield, Darby, Chafer, Walvoord, McGee, Swindoll, etc.) understand that we are now in the dispensation of grace, or as some call it, “the Church Age.” But unfortunately, they fail to see the distinctive message and nature of Paul’s apostleship. By failing to see and accept this clearly stated distinction they fail to see the kingdom nature of the gospel accounts and read the Body of Christ back into them. They understand the principle of progressive revelation and know not to read doctrines about the Body of Christ back into the Old Testament, but they do not see that this same principle should also apply to the gospels as well. They constantly take us back to the earthly ministry of Christ to the Jews as our model of conduct for today. They do this in spite of the fact that even they themselves do not believe that the Church, the Body of Christ began until Pentecost. This leaves the question of how Christ can be speaking to the Body of Christ in the gospels when it did not come into existence until afterward? It is also hard to understand how dispensationalists who claim to interpret the Bible literally can believe that the Body of Christ is in the gospels when even Christ Himself clearly states that He did not come to the Gentiles (Matt. 10:5-6; 15:24). How can they not believe and accept Paul’s unique apostleship and message when he proclaims it so clearly? (Acts 9:15; 22:21; 26:17; Rom. 11:13; Gal. 2:8-9; Eph. 3:1; 3:8; Col. 1:27; I Tim. 2:7; II Tim. 1:11). Proper Message Only by interpreting the Bible literally and being a consistent dispensationalist will we arrive at the proper message for us today. There are many preachers and Bible teachers who proclaim the truth of salvation by grace through faith alone. They quickly run to Paul’s epistles to expound on the great doctrines of the Christian faith. They do not go to the gospels or the general epistles to prove salvation by faith alonebecause you will not find it there! As the late C. I. Scofield said in the preface to Paul’s epistles in his original reference Bible: “The Epistles of the Apostle Paul have a very distinctive character…Through Paul alone we know that the church is not an organization, but an organism, the body of Christ; instinct with His life, and heavenly in calling, promise, and destiny. Through him alone we know the nature, purpose, and form of organization of local churches, and the right conduct of such gatherings. Through him alone do we know that `we shall not all sleep,’ that `the dead in Christ shall rise first,’ and that living saints shall be `changed’ and caught up to meet the Lord in the air at His return. But to Paul was also committed the unfolding of the doctrines of grace…Paul, converted by the personal ministry of the Lord in glory, is distinctively the witness to a glorified Christ, Head over all things to the church which is His body, as the Eleven were to Christ in the flesh.” While Paul himself says that all Scripture is profitable, we must still understand the difference between what is written for us and what is written to us. Only Paul’s epistles are written to us, but all Scripture is for us. That is, we build our doctrine from Paul’s epistles. We are then free to study all of Scripture in light of Paul’s gospel and draw application and principles from all of the Bible and apply it to our life (Rom. 15:4; I Cor. 10:6; II Tim. 3:16). Evangelism Proper Message Before we can evangelize, we first need to know what message it is that we are proclaiming for salvation. There is only ONE gospel for salvation todayPaul’s gospel. Some balk at calling it that, but under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit this is what it is called (Rom. 2:16; 16:25; II Tim. 2:8). This good news is clearly laid out for us in I Corinthians 15:3-4 and it includes the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. “But what about Peter?” you may be thinking. “Didn’t he preach the same thing as Paul?” It is true that he also preached about the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, BUT he preached about it in keeping with Israel’s earthly kingdom program. When we look at Acts 2:22-36 and 3:13-15, we see that he preached about the crucifixion of Christ as the cause of judgment upon the Jews. You do not find Peter preaching faith alone at Pentecost. Peter told the Jews to repent of killing Jesus Christ. If they would repent (as a nation), then the times of refreshing from God would come upon the nation Israel. While it is true that Jesus Christ is the source of the good news for both Jew and Gentile under both the prophetic and mystery programs, we certainly cannot say that Peter understood the gospel of the mystery at Pentecost (after all, it was not revealed until the Apostle Paul). When Paul preached about the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, he did it not according to prophecy, but according to the mystery,: “Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith” (Rom. 16:25-26). The proper application of the gospel in this dispensation of grace is FAITH ALONE. Ephesians 2:8-9 clearly states, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 flatly contradicts the message of faith plus works as the expression of their faith that we find in the gospel accounts (Matt. 5:19-20; 12:50; 23:3; Mark 11:26; Luke 3:10,12,14; 6:46; 8:21; 10:28; 17:10; 18:18-20). If we fail to “rightly divide” the Scriptures we will have a contradictory gospel. The New Testament clearly teaches both the gospel according to prophecy and the gospel according to the mystery. Proper Motivation Understanding Pauls gospel not only gives us the proper evangelistic message, it also provides us the proper motivation for sharing the gospel of the grace of God. We are not to be motivated by guilt. Rather, the love of Christ should compel us just as it did the Apostle Paul (II Cor. 5:14). The end does not justify means. This is especially true when it comes to interpreting and applying the Scriptures. While they may mean well, far too many Bible teachers revert to kingdom Scriptures when trying to motivate us to share our faith. An Old Testament passage commonly used to this end is Ezekiel 3:17-21. After this passage is read, we are then exhorted that we are the designated watchmen of our generation and that if someone who we failed to witness to dies and goes to hell, his blood will be upon our head. Should we take advantage of every opportunity to share the good news of salvation? Most certainly! But if we dont take advantage of the opportunity, will that persons blood be on our head? Absolutely not. However, we should be aware that while we will not be guilty of the persons blood, we ourselves will suffer loss at the Judgment Seat of Christ. What difference does this make? It can make a big difference in our motive and approach to evangelism. If we share the gospel with others because we are motivated by guilt or fear our attitude will be evident to them. Our motive for evangelism should be the love of Christ, not our own self-interest. And believe me, people can tell the difference. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, Who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christs stead, be ye reconciled to God (II Cor 5:17-20). What motivates us to testify of the gospel of the grace of God is love, not guilt or fear. We share our faith because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts and not out of self-interest. We witness for their benefit, not ours. The lost world around us can tell what motivates us, and as one has said, The world doesnt care what you know until they know that you care. Christian Walk Not only does understanding the gospel of the grace of God provide a proper motive for us to share our faith, it also gives us the proper motive and means to live the Christian life effectively. Proper Method By what method or means are we enabled to live a proper Christian life? The fact that a proper walk is desired by God is evidenced by the many times in Pauls epistles that we are exhorted to walk worthy or to practically live up to what God has called us to be in Christ. In Ephesians 4:1 Paul beseeches us that we would walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called (Eph 4:1). (See also Rom.6:4; Eph. 2:10; 5:8; Col. 1:10; 2:6; 4:5; I Thes. 2:12; 4:1). But while we may readily admit the need to live in such a way that honors Christ, we also ask How? What is the means to living what some call a victorious Christian life? Some would have us believe that the way to walk worthy is to speak the word of faith and to command Satan to leave us alone. Any lapse or failure to achieve victory is blamed on us. You didnt have enough faith we are told. Unfortunately, those who try to live out this misapplied teaching find themselves frustrated because it simply does not work in this present evil age. In this age, we are not exhorted to bind or rebuke Satan, but to put on the whole armor of God so that we can stand against him: Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand (Eph 6:11-13). THIS is the secret to a dynamic Christian life! Not in speaking the word of faith or other such New Age and in some cases, occultic practices! There is no magic formula, no quick and easy shortcut to Christian maturity and victory. Maturity comes only as we read and submit to Gods Word in our life. Victory comes only by the daily sacrifice and submission of ourselves to God (Rom. 12:1-2). Proper Motivation The gospel of the grace of God also gives us the proper motivation for living righteously before God. Our primary motivation to live as we should is the overwhelming love of God that is poured out upon us (Rom. 5:5; II Cor. 5:14; Gal. 5:6; Eph. 2:4; 3:19). It is this love that is supposed to motivate us to in turn love God and others (Eph. 5:2). The reason that we are separated from the world and unto God is not because of some legalistic mindset, but because of our love for others. Paul says that he is careful to not offend the unsaved (Jews or Gentiles) or the saved (the church of God) and that he doesnt seek his own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved (I Cor. 10:32-33). This is why we refrain from certain activities. Not because we think we are more pious or holy than others, but to make sure that we do not place a stumbling block in front of them (i.e., trip them up) spiritually. But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ (I Cor. 8:9,11,12). We see that the love and grace of God toward us and our love for others for the sake of the gospel should constrain us to live righteously and holy in this present evil age. Our motivation should not be what pleases us, but that which leads to the edification and salvation of others. Another seldom mentioned aspect of the dispensation of Grace that should motivate us to walk as we should is the Judgment Seat of Christ. As stewards we will be required to give an account before God as to how we have administered the gospel that He has entrusted to us (Rom. 14:12; I Cor. 4:2; II Cor. 5:10). We do not have to ever worry about eternal damnation or judgment for sin because that was paid for by the blood of Christ and we are secure in Him (Rom. 8:31-34; Col. 2:10). However, there will be an accounting. Just as Gods love compels us to serve Him (as that of a son who wants to please his earthly father), fear of His displeasure likewise motivates us as well. Just as an earthly son does not want to experience the displeasure of his father, so we should also be concerned about our Fathers displeasure at the Bema Seat of Christ. But we must remember that displeasure does not equal damnation or loss of sonship. My son may do something that displeases me, but that will never change the fact that he is my son and heir. While there is nothing that can change the established fact that we are sons of God and heirs with Christ, this does not mean that our Father cannot be displeased with us, either here or at the Judgment Seat of Christ. This is why Paul, speaking of the children of Israel, writes in I Corinthians 10:5, But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. And he goes on to say, Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted (I Cor. 10:6). Paul is saying that just as God was not well pleased with many (not a few) of the Israelites, He is often not pleased with the Church, the Body of Christ todayin a practical sense. The Israelites were still His chosen people. We are still members of the Body of Christ. But being in the Body of Christ and knowing certain truths does not mean that we are living in such a way that is well-pleasing to God. Some believers have unfortunately (and to their detriment) misinterpreted II Timothy 2:15. They mistakenly think that study simply means to academically study Gods Word and know the facts about Gods program for today as revealed through the Apostle Paul. To study means to be diligent. Diligent unto what? Diligent unto the end of being approved unto God. Approved unto God refers to the Judgment Seat of Christ (II Cor. 5:10). What will be judged at the Judgment Seat of Christ? Our knowledge of the Scriptures? Our knowledge of right division? No! What will be judged at the Bema Seat of Christ are the things done in his [our] body, according to that he [we] hath done, whether it be good or bad. Notice that it is our works that will be judgedour walk, not our talk. The last part of II Timothy 2:15 rightly dividing the Word of truth is the means to the end, not the end itself. Rightly dividing the Word of truth or knowing Gods program for today is what gives us the means or way to be diligent and live our life in such a way that we will be approved unto God at the Bema Seat of Christ. Cherries - The Supercharged Fruit

Monday, January 28th, 2008

By Tony Anderson The little red fruit that has been enjoyed by countless millions offers more than great taste. Are cherries truly fruit for a healthy you? Recent studies have revealed that cherries offer an assortment of health benefits including the ability to offer natural relief from joint pain caused from gout, arthritis and joint inflammation. So what makes the tasty red fruit so beneficial? The wonder of the cherry is the anthocyanins. According to research from Michigan State University tart cherries contain anthocyanins and bioflavonoids, which inhibit the enzymes Cyclooxygenase-1 and -2, and prevent inflammation in the body. These compounds have similar activity as aspirin, naproxen and ibuprofen. Further investigations revealed that daily consumption of tart cherries has the potential to reduce the pain associated with joint inflammation. Many consumers are choosing to drink cherry juice, eat cherries or consume tart cherry pills to starve off the pain of gout, arthritis and joint inflammation. Linda L. Patterson is a living testimony of the soothing affects of cherries on her joint pain. I enjoy crocheting and lately my hands have been so painful, I couldnt crochet for more than about 30 minutes., says Patterson. In an attempt to find relief from her pain, she located Fruit Advantage Tart Cherry capsules, a supplement made from red tart cherries. Within the first week of taking the tart cherry capsules my hands felt so much better., says Ms. Patterson. I am now able to crochet without the pain in my hands. In addition to the health benefits offered by cherries, many people are just eating the fruit for the taste. John Simms, a life-long resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, eats cherries for the convenience and taste. As a short-haul truck driver, my diet isnt the best, I would eat fast food every day. A year ago, my wife bought some dried cherries and I began eating them to keep my weight down. Now I eat a handful of cherries instead of eating fast food. Not only are cherries a great way to maintain a healthy body they are a natural product. According to Andrew LaPointe, Director of Marketing for Traverse Bay Farms, www.traversebayfarms.com many of our customers are looking to eat healthier and fruit products fit this trend. Its certainly better than fast food. Traverse Bay Farms sells Fruit Advantage Tart Cherry capsules and cherry juice concentrate. There’s No Need to Pad Your Resume

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

By Linda Matias It seems like a good idea, harmless in fact. Your friends assure you that everybody does it and that employers rarely check resume facts. Going on blind faith and convinced the truth hasnt been helpful so far, you seriously consider fabricating information on your resume. You adapt the school of thought that a little white lie never hurt anyone and lying on a resume is just that, a little white lie. Cheating on a resume can be tempting, especially when one has been searching for a job for months or even years. However, we all know that fibbing is never a good idea, and the likelihood that youll be caught is extremely high. Even if your creativity slips through the cracks, karma has a way of catching up with you. So either way, lying gets messy. That said, many job seekers have major hiccups in their professional lifeemployment gaps, lack of education and/or experienceand it is becoming increasingly difficult for most to write their own resumes without exaggerating or flat-out lying. Since resume fraud is on the rise, employers are taking much more care in verifying information, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to mislead them. The good news, however, is that lying isnt necessary if the resume is well-written and strategically organized. The education and experience sections of a resume are the ones most job seekers are fixed on fabricating. They are under the impression that if they lack the educational requirements or the experience described in the job description they wont be considered a serious candidate. That, however, is a myth. Education doesnt top an employers list Many people incorrectly believe hiring decisions are made based on the candidates education, and they feel compelled to stretch the truth in order to compete with their degreed counterparts. The reality is that education, though important, isnt the driving force behind hiring decisions unless, of course, your profession requires a degree (e.g. doctors, lawyers, CPAs, etc.). When a candidate lacks a college degree but has a solid work history, education quickly falls down the ladder of necessary requirements. Lets take a look at this point from an employers perspective. The situation: The job description reads, Seeking an accounts payable specialist with comprehensive experience in processing expense reports, reconciling vendor accounts, and performing bank reconciliations. Successful candidate holds an associates degree in accounting. Candidate #1: Jose has worked in accounts payable for the last five years. During his career, he has set up new policies, cross-referenced purchase orders with invoices, and interacted with vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies. His experience comes from the school of hard knocks and he doesnt have a college education. Candidate #2: Maria recently received a bachelors degree in accounting. While earning her degree she worked as a front desk clerk for a Fortune 500 company where she was in charge of filing and answering a multi-line phone system. Who would you rather hire, Jose or Maria? Chances are that you named Jose as the clear winner because his experience supercedes Marias education. Jose will be able to jump into the position with little or no training because he has hands-on knowledge of best accounting practices. Maria, on the other hand, is green. The hiring organization would have to spend time, money, and resources to train her, which they most likely wont have an interest in doing. Show em what youve got Employers spend most of their time scrutinizing the experience section of the resume, and unfortunately, the homespun resume rarely tells the whole story. Most resume do-it-yourselfers fear their accomplishments wont fare well against the competition and they decide to embellish facts in an effort to attract an employers attention. Again, fabricating information isnt necessary. Most likely the experience you have garnered throughout your work history is impressive. The challenge, however, is expressing your accomplishments in a way that entices the hiring organization to give you a call. When dealing with hiring organizations you have to connect all the dots. For each position that you are applying for, there is an average of 500 applicants so you have to make it very easy for the reader to distinguish between you and every other qualified candidate. The only way to achieve that is by writing strong resume copy. As a job seeker you are intimately involved in your own search, so much so that it is hard to take a step back and write a resume that is marketable. You are probably your own worst critic. If you have attempted to write your own resume you know how difficult it is to write about yourself objectively. To make the resume-writing process easier, answer the following questions: What skill set do you bring to the table? What are your competitive strengths? For each position you held, list three to five achievements. How is your company better off since you joined their team? Have you been involved in designing and/or implementing new initiatives? The point here is to start thinking about your career as a portrait of who you are professionally, and not just as a job. When you make that mind shift, it will be easier to put words to paper. Lying isnt a necessary evil. The trick to obtaining the job you desire is making the most of what you have to offer. The RC Helicopter

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

By Bob Robeson Leonardo da Vinci created on paper, at least with the first helicopter, and the very first piloted helicopter was invented by Paul Cornu in 1907, however, this design was not successful. Another Frenchman, Etienne Oehmichen built and flew a helicopter 1 kilometer in 1924. An early practical helicopter that flew for a decent distance was the German Focke-Wulf Fw 61 invented by an unknown inventor. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Focke-Wulf_Fw_61)Igor Sikorsky is considered to be the “father” of helicopters not because he invented the first. He is called that because he invented the first successful helicopter, upon which future designs were based. http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/blhelicoptor.htmSo where when did the RC model helicopter begin? Well I do not know who is credited with the First RC Model Helicopter, but it was in the 70s that the RC Helicopter revolution really began. For the most part, they were all Nitro powered, using standard Model Airplane engines (40 and .60 size) and 4-6 channel airplane radios. Using a 4 channel radio to control the 5 functions of a model helicopter was quit unique in it challenges and results. What they did was used a Y connector for the throttle and pitch servo. Then you mechanically set up the throttle and pitch curve on the heli.In the 70s there were 2 basic type of Helis, the teetering head, fixed pitch and soon after came the collective pitch. And just like today, some had direct drive tail rotors systems while other went with belt drive. The first of these Helis where hard to fly, had very poor control and lacked any tail gyros, radio mixing or any of the modern connivances that make todays Helis fly so well and easy. We even had to mechanically set the lead/lag of the main blades, until we just left off 2 of the 3 bolts on the main blades and let them seek there our lead/lag. But the RC Model helicopter matured quickly and by the 80s the RC Model Helicopter could fly quite nicely, the radio manufacturers started making good Helicopter Radios, the Helicopters themselves had the modern style Bell/Hiller control system, single point Main Blade attachment for self Lead/Lag and gyros became common place. Direct drive or belt drive tail rotors still were used. In the 80s and 90s the Far East began to create beautiful Models of all sizes. And the Ready To Fly models became common place. Laundry Dilemma, Three Simple Questions to Save Your Sanity

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

By Paul Griffitts Our laundry was a disaster and if answering three questions were going to help us we would have been thanking anyone for any advice. So I decided that it would be a goal of mine to be on top of the laundry so whoever showed up whenever they showed up at our house laundry would not be an obstacle on the way to the kitchen. First I need to go back a little ways. My wife of twenty seven years and I have raised four children and held down our careers in spite of the odds against it and we are still together and in love. Our children three of which are grown, well almost, twenty-four, twenty-one and nineteen are happy well adjusted and on their way to becoming a positive contribution to society. We still have a nine year old and the third grade is tougher than we remember. The twenty-one and nineteen year olds have moved out and have an apartment five miles away. They are girls so that took away a lot of the laundry and a lot of the laundry doers all in one move. Our son twenty-one years old and our nine year old are at home and believe me both contribute to the laundry in a big way. Now you can imagine that with three teens and one toddler our laundry was a disaster. We could never find the time or when we could find the time we could not find the energy to get our laundry done and put away. Now our house by no means was dirty just cluttered with laundry, no surface area uncluttered, mounds of laundry waiting to be washed and another mound waiting to be put away. I remember four or five laundry baskets lined up in the dining room and our kids having the time of their lives pulling each other around in them. I tried every way including the military way to get everything going in one direction but to no avail. Things just seem to be out of control and no sign of returning to normal. So I was going crazy and thought to myself that whenever I go to someones house it looked like Better Homes and Garden, why cant we just get the laundry done? My poor wife would be exhausted and be dragging around the house trying to get the laundry picked up before she would pass out from total exhaustion. So finally I figured out what the problem was and it was logistics. From this I will ask you three simple questions and your answers will help you get ahead of the tornado and help you keep up on the dreaded laundry. First of all it wasnt until I decided to not sweat it that it became easier. Question number one, Where are the socks? You if you are like me and my wife you have forty five unmatched socks at any given time. I finally took those unmatched socks and threw them away. We went to a discount department store and bought twenty four pairs of the same socks in two size ranges each size range with a different design and a big wicker basket that stays near the laundry room. Everyone wears the same socks and all the socks are rolled, yeah just like in the old days, in a ball. The socks are in the wicker basket so no need to sort and put away in drawers. We did eventually have to get two baskets to keep the sizes similar as the kids grew. This alone was an incredible time saver both in doing the laundry and in the morning when every one was trying to find socks. Question number two, How many hangers do you own? We were trying to fold up tees and shirts and skirts and pants and pajamas and putting them all in laundry baskets only to have someone rifle though them to get something and mess up all the folded clothes. It was frustrating and self defeating. One day I called my wife while she was at a department store and asked, How much are those plastic hangers that dont get tangled when they are in a pile, she said, Ten for a dollar, why? I just told her to buy a hundred. Now we hang everything, drawers arent stuffed full; laundry baskets are a thing of the past. I even put up a bar in our laundry area where empty hangers are hung waiting for the next shirt or pair of pants to be hung on them. The closets are full and the floor is clear. Closets have doors but floors are right out in the open this makes a big difference. Question number three, How does the laundry get to the washing machine? This is the logistics problem and it really takes thought. Most kids and men and the occasional women just leave the clothes where they drop off the body. This is the hardest part of the equation as I see it. Every room in my house has a hamper or a basket of sort to put dirty laundry in. Some of you lucky people have laundry shoots that deliver the dirty laundry right to the laundry room. Well we are not so lucky so we had a problem, how to get it all to the washing machine and in a way that made it easier to sort and get in the washer without creating a mountain of laundry right in the middle of the house. Answer Funneling. This is usually a complicated system of getting something from one place to another without it being visibly noticeable and looking like a mess. At this point there are categories of laundry and were not talking about whites and darks and delicates and perm press. If you own Woolite you are not the person I am trying to help. This article is for the despaired laundry household, the one that on Saturday nine or ten loads are not uncommon. You people out there who can do laundry once a week and only need to do three loads dont know what its like for the rest of us but maybe you will some day so keep reading. Funneling is logistics like a giant company moving goods from one place to another then to the customer. The more you know about where the laundry is and in what stage it is at the easier it will be to do it. Why have appliance companies not come up with the washer that magically turns into a dryer when the wash is done and dries the clothes without having to switch the load. I would have paid a thousand dollars for that one. Back to the chore at hand, logistics or funneling your laundry to the machines. I wrestled with this concept in two ways, one was even days of the week would be assigned to two people and odd to two others leaving Saturday and Sunday a free for all where it was open laundry time with the machines. I also toyed with getting two washers and dryers. Then I came up with the funneling technique. First the categories, category one is clothes that need to be worn for work or school, they are the highest priority wash. This category of laundry is immediately upgraded to the closest staging area of the laundry funnel. Second category is underwear and socks and towels. This category is the second highest priority. Third category is play clothes and odds and ends like dishtowels and bed sheets etc. This should cover all your laundry but feel free to change items to different categories that more suit your familys needs. There is a fourth category that should me avoided and that is the, I just got to have these jeans washed right away, category. A family using this system should not have the fourth category if you are working the system faithfully. Now stage laundry baskets at inconspicuous places leading from the bedrooms and bathrooms around the house. This may sound odd but compared with what it looks like now give it a try. The final laundry basket is at or in the laundry area. This is known as the Current Load basket. To start the funneling system you need to empty your washer and dryer so install the one-hundred hanger process first and when the washer is empty push the final load through the dryer. Now youre clear for the new process. Backfill the laundry baskets with the categories the way set forth and take each person in the household and explain to them the process. Tell them that only towels and socks and underwear can be put into the baskets in the bathroom and that their clothes from category one need to be put into the baskets closer to the laundry. Never allow the baskets to overflow, when they are full move them to the next station. Meanwhile there is a load of category one washing and that load is pushed through the dryer and hung on hangers. The hung clothes are hung by sorted rooms that they will need to go to and your mantra for the first month will be, Take your clothes with you. By the way do not take the time to turn clothes that are inside out right side out just hang them that way. This will teach your family to right side out the clothes when they take them off and speed up the chore immensely. Same with socks, be aggressive they will learn. Learning to be a polite laundry creator is what is important; youre not a bad laundry doer if the people you are doing for are not good at giving the product to you. After a while what you will discover is that people will bring their favorite clothes in category one to the closest basket to the laundry area. Those who dont will miss out on the next load. If you focus on the category one clothes that incorporates the hundred hangers concept you will find that category one will be done with minimal effort. Category two is the most time consuming because except for the underwear no one really owns these items. Remember the sock basket concept. Try to get the underwear right into the drawers and to do this try rolling the underwear. This is how they do it in the army. It takes up less space and is easier to keep the drawer neat. So here are some tips to remember: 1. Get the hangers. 2. Select good locations for your baskets. 3. No clean clothes in baskets. 4. Hang everything that can be hung. 5. Install a bar that can both hold empty hangers and ready hung clothes in the laundry area. 6. Dont right side out the clothes (this will eventually fix itself). 7. Dont wash a load bigger than what will dry in 45 minutes (this may take a little practice and will save money in the long run). 8. Only use bleach on whites that dont cost a lot to replace. 9. If your laundry area is downstairs only let category one laundry reach the laundry area basket when not doing laundry and use the washer as a basket to build a load. 10. Tell your kids that if they dont follow the process they will not get their wash done. This is good for them and you are not a bad parent no matter what they say. We want to hear from you so feel free to write us with your questions and comments; I would love to hear how you improved your laundry problems. White Sun - Tao of Heaven; What is Wisdom?

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

By Teow Aun Chew To be awakened to the realization of one’s True Self is wisdom. A person becomes awakened when he realizes that his True Nature is that of God. He longs for returning to God’s kingdom and dedicates this to practise Tao. He makes sure that whatever he says, acts and thinks are faultless. He maintains tranquillity in his sensual organs. He gives convenience to others. He makes no distinction between himself and others. He conveys the truth to others so that all including himself can return to the Land of Bliss, Heaven. The awakened lives in the adulterated society, yet is not tainted by emotions and desires. He devotes himself to the spreading of Tao to the world, transforming hell into Heaven. He points out Tao of Heaven to those who are lost so that they can also realize their True Selves. He acts according to Tao. He vows to save the world out of his mercifulness. A wise man is bright and quiet, his tranquillity and wisdom flow together and feed each other. This way, his emotion returns into his True Self, his knowledge turns into wisdom, his human nature becomes settled from danger and his True Nature becomes bright and clear. It is the same as that the enlightened is always sincere and the sincere is always enlightened. He knows that to study truth is the nobliest wish of a human being and to disseminate truth is the holiest responsibility. He therefore becomes the salesman of the Way of Heaven, mankind’s protector, an oasis in the desert, the guiding light through the maze of life, a cook to give others nourishment for their souls and he knows the advantages of being a preacher of the truth. Wisdom is bestowed by Heaven and by sharing his wisdom, he can improve his personality, enhance his good qualities and eloquence, profit mankind, help people to do good deeds and can change malicious words into kind words. That is wisdom. Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

By David Richter Has this ever happened to you: You have been working at a particular job for a few years. Its not the greatest job and it hasnt always allowed you to capitalize on your unique gifts or talents. But its ok, and it pays the bills. The job has become a part of your lifes routine. Then one day, without any forewarning, youre let go. In what seems like a split second, you go from being gainfully employed to joining the ranks of the unemployed. Its a shock to the system. A tremendous level of stress can accompany being unemployed. Youre certainly affected by the loss of income. You may also have a related drop in your level of confidence. Your unemployment may be impacting your home life and personal relationships. There may be a degree of depression that you are dealing with. You may be harboring lingering resentments toward those people responsible for your layoff. Finding a job is challenging enough; if you bring these emotions into your job search efforts, you will be placing yourself in a very disadvantageous position. You need to be clear-headed and focused to move yourself forward. You must find a way to bring yourself into a more balanced state. Realizing that you are not alone may be a good first step. Renewing or maintaining friendships is another. Appreciating yourself in every way possible goes a long way. Relaxation exercises, deep breathing, yoga, meditation, working out, and eating healthier foods can make you feel a lot better about yourself. These steps can help you move past any negative emotions and toward a much healthier mental state. Having a clear and positive vision for yourself and your future may be the icing on the cake needed to launch your job search process and move you quickly in the direction of obtaining your career goals. You need to know that you will get through this. You will get on the other side of it. It may take some time, and it may not be the most comfortable period in your life. But your willingness to move forward and your intention to stay on track will invariably lead you to the next phase of your career, and life. Remember, when one door closes, a better and brighter one opens in its place. When a layoff occurs, know that you invariably will face new opportunities that can truly transform your life. Want To Breathe Properly? Learn Buteyko

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

By Eric Cho Buteyko is a breathing technique that seeks to re-train people with breathing disorders. The program deals with people suffering from asthma or other breathing problems and tries to change their breathing patterns to reduce symptoms of the ailment. When symptoms are reduced, medications too become redundant. People suffering from sleep disorders, breathing disorders, sinus or hay fever can be retrained to control their symptoms. With the help of Buteyko, it is possible to reduce or even eliminate the use of medication safely. As with any holistic healing process the breathing patterns used in Buteyko also helps to increase energy levels, thereby making the individual feel healthy and buoyant. About fifty years ago, Dr. Konstantin Pavlovich Buteyko noticed that the more ill people became, the more they needed to breathe in. Bringing the volume of their breath back to normal led to an elimination of symptoms and even helped normalize their discomfort. To put it very simplistically, he said that the more you breathe, the closer you are to death. Conversely, the less you breathe the healthier you get. To make it effective, Dr. Buteyko developed a method of breathing that allowed people to use a lesser volume of air effectively for all body purposes. In a short span of time, people with cardiovascular diseases, allergies, high blood pressure, immunity problems, chronic fatigue and stress-related problems show drastic improvement. Breath holding and the controlled reduction of ventilation are the twin pillars on which the Buteyko method stands. Many people believe that the purpose of breathing is to get in as much oxygen as possible. However they are totally ignorant of the need to maintain a balance between oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the body. A body that is depleted of carbon dioxide (as is often the case when we over-breathe) cannot make optimum use of the oxygen supply. Thus the tissues suffer from oxygen depletion. This leads to disease. Thus there are two kinds of breathing good breathing and bad breathing. Allergic reactions and breathing problems are some of the common manifestations of bad breathing. The body creates nasal restrictions to restrict the CO2 levels and this appears as sinusitis, nasal polyps, asthma and bronchitis. According to Dr. Buteyko a healthy individual should be able to hold his breath for forty seconds after a normal expiration. Asthmatics can barely hold theirs for more than 10 seconds. Even people with overt breathing problems cannot stay too long without gasping for air. Since most of us are totally unaware of our breathing processes, we are also unaware of how this pattern changes and how it affects our health. Many factors contribute to bad breathing. For instance, the lack of exercise or even an excess of it can lead to increased CO2 levels in our body. Even the highly processed food we eat leads to breathing problems. Stress and tension, over wrought emotions are just some other factors that contribute. By focusing on breathing techniques one is able to purposely induce calm by breathing properly. This helps to calm the nervous system and normalize body functions. The Buteyko system is probably the only form of breath-retraining that teaches people to reduce their air intake while maintaining a relaxed diaphragm. This technique usually needs guidance from a trained Buteyko practitioner. Most practitioners teach breathing techniques over a five day period. Once the technique is learnt, it can be practiced by the individual on his own. Student and Graduate Loans

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joseph_Kenny]Joseph Kenny Student and graduate loans are becoming more popular as student debt continues to rise and students seek alternative ways of dealing with it. The good news is that student or graduate loans are generally available without the need to show steady income or offer security. This is extremely helpful, as most students will not have either of these. Student and graduate loans also come at relatively good interest rates, particularly having regard to the fact that they are completely unsecured. The thing to be wary of is that such loans may lock the student into a long-term relationship with the lender that may not be the most advantageous one. Student Debt Students leaving college today average about 14,000 in debt. More than two thirds of all students must borrow and the vast majority of this debt takes comes from special loans provided by the Student Loan Company. Once the student begins working, the loans will be repaid, but the interest rates are capped at the highly attractive rate of 1% above base rate. This is very low compared to most sources of credit available. The rules for repayment are simple. Beginning in the April after graduation, 9% of all earnings above 15,000 are automatically taken to repay the Student Loan Company. The loans are therefore very safe, as they are only due once you join the workforce and begin to earn a steady salary. Graduate Loans Graduate loans on the other hand, are far more expensive than student loans. These loans are generally offered on graduation, when student loans are no longer available, to cover the costs of transition from student life to working life. This may include finding a new place to live, buying work clothes etc. Graduate loans will also be used to pay off student overdrafts, which are offered to all students as standard features of their bank accounts. The point to remember is that while graduate loans are relatively cheap when compared to personal loans, they are far more expensive than student loans. Employment If you have a job lined up, you may be able to borrow money from your new employer at a far better rate. This is one alternative to graduate loans. Another alternative is career development loans, which are available to those studying for certain professional qualifications such as medicine or law. Many high street lenders offer these. It can be very easy to lose control of debt while studying. The credit is very easy to obtain and repayments so far into the future that they dont seem real. However, high student debt can seriously hamper attempts to buy a home once you enter the workforce, or save for a pension. The trends show that while student debt continues to increase, graduates are faring better, relying less on borrowing and more on salaries, to meet their needs.
